It would be highly appreciated if you PMed a staff member that you are in fact going to challenge the Elite Four. The staff will then just check to make sure that you did beat all of the gyms before challenging these four trainers. The main purpose of this is just to make sure that we don't have completely new people challenging the Elite Four, though I think everyone is smart enough not to.
